About me

The driving force behind BadmintonBespannen.nl is me, Bart de Leur. Badminton is anything but new to me. Even before I was old enough to officially be allowed to play badminton, I already had a racket in my hand and a shuttle in the other. As the youngest in a family with two older sisters, it was almost inevitable: they were on badminton. And they were in badminton because my parents were in badminton. So it's safe to say that badminton was something we grew up with.

Both my parents were qualified A-level coaches and trained at several clubs. When I was finally old enough to play badminton myself, I started at Badminton Club Nieuw-Vennep. I soon discovered that I really liked badminton. After a few years, I was selected for the district training of Noord-Holland Zuid. I enjoyed training there for several years and participated in various tournaments. However, a breakthrough to the absolute top did not happen.

In Hoofddorp, where I was playing at the time, I started giving youth training to children up to 13 years old. At the same time, I attended the Badminton coaching course at the Dutch Badminton Association. A small step in the footsteps of my parents. The highest level I reached as a player was the 4th division national, as it was called then. Unfortunately, due to my alternating shifts, I had to stop playing badminton.

But the blood crawls where it cannot go. When my eldest son wanted to take up badminton, the virus struck again. From watching from the sidelines, I went on to assist with youth training on Wednesdays and league training at Badminton Association Nieuw-Vennep. I am currently the competition contact person (ccp) for the youth competition and responsible for all youth competition matters. In short, I'm back in it again! Meanwhile, my youngest son also enjoys playing competition.

Stringing rackets is not new to me either. My father, Rob de Leur, strung rackets for Badminton Association Nieuw-Vennep for many years. As a child, I often saw that. Maybe the stringing virus is as contagious as the badminton virus, who knows.

As no stringing service could be found in the area, I decided to start providing this service. This is how I started BadmintonBespannen.nl in January 2025. My goal is to make badminton accessible for everyone and to ensure that players can get the most out of themselves and their equipment. That's what I stand for: quality, close to home.

I like to be approachable and easily accessible, so don't hesitate to contact me.

Sporting greetings,
Bart
